Reviews from Satisfied Neighbors

Worth every penny!…I’ve been in my house less than a year, and I’m already on a first name basis with our technician, Anthony. He explains what he’s doing, is always on time, follows-up, and seems truly concerned for each situation. We signed up for their quarterly service, which has been worth it because when we have issues in between visits, they come out free of charge. Since we started using them, the number of bugs inside our house has decreased drastically, which makes it worth every penny!

Very thorough and respectful… Awesome customer service over the phone and in person. They were very thorough and very respectful of my home inside and out. They squeezed me in at the last minute when I had a bad experience with a different pest control company. I definitely will be recommending ProActive!!”

City of Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights was originally a small town called Dunton, named after William Dunton. He influenced the Illinois and Wisconsin Railroad to establish a stop in what is the modern-day city, encouraging expansion, which continued through the mid 1900’s. Arlington Heights is now the most populous community in the United States incorporated as a “village.” Growth has been a steady trend since Arlington Height’s foundation. By 1850, German immigrants poured into the area and established many types of businesses from a blacksmith to a cheesemonger, and even opening a hotel. Then, with the new spread of automobile ownership in the 1950’s the baby-boomers rapidly added to the city’s population. Accessibility to Chicago because of the railways put in place in Arlington Heights’ early years makes the city appealing to both young professionals and families alike.

The bustling city of Arlington Heights offers a wide array of activities to its residents and also to visitors, most notably the Arlington Park Racetrack. The racetrack was founded by Harry Brown, a Californian millionaire in 1927. It has been a cornerstone in the development of the city since then and has provided people with nearly a century of excitement.

Pest Vulnerability in Arlington Heights

Much of the Midwest region of the United States is known for its sprawling fields and abundant agriculture that comes naturally with dense insect populations. Midwestern metropolitan areas are not immune to this reality, especially in the humid summer months. Northeastern Illinois is susceptible to mosquitoes , spiders, earwigs, ants and many other pests due to the many bodies of water scattered throughout the area and also due to our proximity to Lake Michigan.

Mosquitoes are not only a nuisance, but can also be dangerous, as they carry potentially deadly diseases such as Zika and West Nile Virus. ProActive Pest Management offers an effective solution to keep your summertime barbeque party pest-free with our comprehensive mosquito defense treatment. Mosquitoes are most commonly found near lakes, ponds, rivers and streams because they lay their eggs in these types of places. When the eggs hatch, juvenile mosquitoes make their way into the world, and more often than not, into your yard. During the day, it is too hot for these pests to be active, so they rest underneath the leaves of trees and bushes until the cooler evening hours when they are on the hunt for a blood meal. By using a fine mist to treat the foliage surrounding your home, as well as the eaves beneath your roof, we target mosquitoes when and where they are most vulnerable. This proactive treatment is applied every three weeks during peak mosquito season – late April through early October to ensure you can enjoy your yard in peace!

Another pest that plagues Midwestern regions is the box elder bug. Their appearance could be described as “the firefly’s evil twin” since they are almost identical in shape and size, but they are equally harmless. Box elder bugs are identified by their black wings and bright red or orange markings on their bodies. Their cycle of behavior begins in the Fall, when they are seeking out a safe place to survive the harsh winter months. Often, Arlington Heights residents will see them in staggering numbers on their siding on a sunny Autumn day as they soak in all the heat they can from a sun-lit surface. It is during this time that box elder bugs find their way into the siding of a house or into gaps and cracks in the foundation or porch area. Once they’ve found a place to settle in and get cozy, box elders will have been forgotten by their unknowing hosts until the weather begins to warm up. Suddenly, a Springtime army of insects will return to the warm sun-lit surface of a home appearing to be a living black splash of paint on your otherwise pastel walls.

The most ideal time to begin treatment for box elder bugs is in the Autumn, when we can create and maintain a protective barrier around your home that prevents them from carrying over into the warmer months. With our quarterly service, you can rest easy knowing that box elder bugs, spiders, ants, and other commonly recurring pests are kept at bay all year long.
